Watni OLT Manager — VM images

The same Watni box that ships on USB, as a virtual disk for Proxmox / KVM (.qcow2) and VMware ESXi / vSphere (.ova).

VM size

2 vCPU · 4 GB RAM (8 GB above 1,500 ONUs) · disk 40 GB or more (the image is 8 GB and grows to the disk you give it on first boot) · 1 network card on the VLAN/LAN that reaches the OLTs and the internet · UEFI or BIOS.

Proxmox

1. Copy the .qcow2 to the Proxmox host (for example into /var/lib/vz/template/).
2. Create the VM and import the disk (VM id 150 and storage local-lvm are examples):

qm create 150 --name watni-olt --memory 4096 --cores 2 --net0 virtio,bridge=vmbr0 \
  --scsihw virtio-scsi-single --ostype l26 --bios ovmf --efidisk0 local-lvm:1 --agent enabled=1
qm importdisk 150 watni-olt-box-YYYYMMDD.qcow2 local-lvm
qm set 150 --scsi0 local-lvm:vm-150-disk-1,discard=on,ssd=1 --boot order=scsi0
qm resize 150 scsi0 40G
qm start 150

Or in the web UI: create the VM without a disk, import the qcow2 with qm importdisk, attach it as scsi0, set the boot order, resize, start. Open the Console tab to see the Watni screen.

VMware ESXi / vSphere

1. Create/Register VM → Deploy a virtual machine from an OVF or OVA file → choose the .ova.
2. Pick the datastore and the network (port group that reaches the OLTs). Thin provisioning is fine.
3. Before the first power-on: Edit settings → Hard disk 1 → 40 GB or more. Keep EFI firmware.
4. Power on; the web console shows the Watni screen.

After first boot

• The screen shows the box IP and a QR code. Press E to register the box with Watni (needs internet). Send us the box name shown on the screen; we approve it in minutes and the platform installs itself.
• Dashboard: http://<box-ip>:8080 after registration + install.
• No DHCP on your network: press N (PIN from Watni support) to set a static address / VLAN.
